The staff merchant portal is designed as a reduced permission login of the merchant portal. So what does that mean?
Basically the staff merchant portal provides merchant staff a reduced permission mode for staff of an individual merchant. This mode is provided specifically if you don't want to integrate the platform into a POS. It still provides your staff with the functionality to process transactions with the various promotional products that are offered in our platform.
The merchant portal has support for tracking cashiers and tracking locations. Normally this tracking is done through an assigned account. Each account is assigned a cashier no and location id. However, there is another mode in the merchant portal that can be turned on by the administrator to do fast cashier switching. This is used when cashiers have limited access to a computer such that multiple cashiers may access the merchant portal at the same time.
The staff portal is designed to handle transactions and provide customers service at the cash register. When you do not wish to integrate with a Point OF Sales system or a website.
The staff accounts provide the following functions:
No this is administrative functionality. The staff accounts can only process transactions and make reservations. This is meant for every day use and interacting with customers.
Yes, in fact the merchant portal has bar code readers built into the search function that utilizes a webcam or a camera on a cell phone. You can also utilize bar code readers and mag stripe readers because they contain somehting called a keyboard wedge meaning any input coming in from a usb type device will be like typing something on a keyboard. Any USB style USB or magstripe readers will be able to handle this. Bar code readers should be the kind that can read QR codes as this is the type of bar code we use in our system.
We do not recommend any specific piece of hardware. Our platform will work with any barcode or magstripe reader that uses a keyboard wedge. If you wish to forgo the use of a barcode reader our platform can also use a simple webcam to scan the products. Obviously if you have third party gift cards with a magstripe you'll need a magstripe reader. But for the most part we've designed our system to work with the minimal amount of hardware nessasary.
Yes, please checkout our webhooks section in the docs on how to setup webhooks so that the system will notify your servers or pos system that a change was made to a promotional product. Also checkout our pos api if you wish to do further POS integrations.
